Infuriated by this, Bijja let the 'drunken' elephant run over Machaiah. A detachment of soldiers was also sent. Jay Shaliya beat the elephant and all of them. In course of time Bijjala came to know the high glory of Machidev and realized his mistake and surrendered. Madiwala Machideva's Jayanti is celebrated on February 1 across the state.
