A love story made into coffee

For more than 9 decades, the Rodríguez family has been dedicated to coffee production, a tradition that has been strengthened in recent years thanks to the union of the children of Don Hugo and Doña Fabiola who decided to confront the technical production of the national grain and therefore ende to the management of its plot located in the beautiful municipality of Risaralda – Caldas, known as the Hill of the Wind.

After the death of their father, the brothers assume their responsibilities fully as a tribute to that loving and exemplary patriarch; From there, “Café Mis Taitas” was born, a project that has grown little by little, making its way among the cafes of the Caldense capital. Its packaging has a renewed visual identity that evokes a pair of parents in the middle of coffee beans and mountains, and on the back, a canyoner in flight; According to Liliana Rodríguez, one of the owners of the café, it is a spiritual representation of her father's care and, without a doubt, the great inspiration to start this family business.

The “Café Mis Taitas”, which arises in Villa Fabiola, is a Castillo variety and has particular characteristics, among them that it is not passed through the demucilaginator (equipment used in the coffee processing) through which the mucilage or gelatinous layer that covers the grain), its process takes more hours of fermentation, it has sun drying that is different from the traditional one and the most special thing is that its grains are carefully chosen by those who have been doing this job for years.

Despite the restrictions generated by the pandemic, this family did not stop; They installed the Casa Madero hotel where the “Café Mis Taitas” is located. Those who come there extol the softness and aroma of their flagship product. The coffee is also distributed in a nearby location and has been shipped to the United States and Canada. The word of mouth of his friends has been crucial to boosting his sales, making him known in Caldas, the rest of the country and other latitudes.
