Definition:
It is a Meccan surah, with a number of verses of 111, according to the correct opinion of the scholars of interpretation. It was revealed to the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - after Surat Al-Ghashiya and before Surah Al-Shura. It is the sixty-eighth surah in the order in which the surahs of the Holy Qur’an were revealed to the Messenger - peace and blessings be upon him - and the eighteenth surah. In the order of the Noble Qur’an, and its location in the sixteenth part and the thirtieth and thirty-first sections, it is one of the five surahs that begin with praise, in addition to Surat Al-Fatihah, Al-An’am, Saba’, and Fatir. Reasons for the revelation of the Surah
Commentators, including Ibn Kathir, provided narrations regarding the reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Kahf. It was stated in his interpretation that the Quraish tribe sent Al-Nadr bin Al-Harith and Uqba bin Abi Muait to the Jewish rabbis; Because they were People of the Book - that is, the Torah -, they ordered them to ask the Jewish rabbis about the prophecy of Muhammad - peace and blessings be upon him - and to inquire about his truthfulness. The Jewish rabbis responded to them by returning to Mecca and asking the Prophet three questions: If he answers it, then he is a sent prophet, and if he does not answer, then he is not a prophet, but rather someone who is speaking and claiming prophethood. Among the questions is a question about the Companions of the Cave and their story. When they returned to Mecca, they asked the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - the three questions, so the Prophet told them that he would answer them tomorrow, but he did not say, God willing. Then the revelation was delayed, as a reproach from God Almighty to the Prophet, and the infidels of Quraysh thought that the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - was a pretender and not truthful, and he - peace and blessings be upon him - was deeply saddened and his soul was distressed, until God Almighty revealed, through Gabriel - peace be upon him - a response with verses from Surah Al-Kahf in the words of God Almighty: (We relate to you their news with the truth. Indeed, they are youths who have believed in their Lord, and We have increased them in guidance), interspersed with a reminder to the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - to link matters to the will of God, as in His Almighty saying: (And do not say of anything: Indeed, I will do that tomorrow, unless He wills. God: And remember your Lord when you forget, and say, “Perhaps my Lord will guide me to anything closer to guidance than this.”

It was reported from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the Sunnah of the Prophet, about the ruling on reciting Surat Al-Kahf on Friday, and the virtue of reciting Surat Al-Kahf on Friday is that it provides light for the Muslim between the two Fridays, and it also protects him from the Antichrist, according to his saying: “Whoever memorizes ten verses from the first Surah The cave and its contemplation are protection from the Antichrist.” Many religious scholars also pointed out the reasons for reading Surat Al-Kahf, which are as follows.
1- It is a light that guides the Muslim who reads it, and exempts him from committing sins.
2- It guides the Muslim to the path of goodness and keeps him away from evil.
3- It was reported on the authority of Abdullah bin Omar, may God be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on a Friday, a light will shine for him from under his feet to the clouds of the sky, illuminating him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven for what occurred between the two Friday prayers.” ).
4- Reciting ten verses from Surat Al-Kahf exempts the Muslim from the temptation of the Antichrist.
