Croydon Music Heritage Trail for PC

Explore the sights, sounds and scenes of Croydon's musical heritage past and present with this walking trail around Croydon.

This project was developed with the people of Croydon in mind. Over 11,000 people engaged to nominate and vote for musicians, performing artists, venues and other music heritage assets. The top 25 are featured in this app and are just a taste of the great music stories to come out of Croydon.

The result is a collection showcasing artists from over a century, spanning multiple genres including: Bass, Classical, Indian Classical Music, Punk, and Blues and Jazz. Other sounds you will experience along the trail include Reggae, Dubstep, Rock, Grime, Folk, Indie and more.

The app is GPS enabled. This is used to show you relevant content based on your location. Please note that you do not have to be in Croydon in order to access any of the content in the app.

The app also uses Location Services and Bluetooth Low Energy to determine your location when the app is running in the background. It will trigger notifications when you are close to a location of interest. We have used GPS and Bluetooth Low Energy in a power-efficient way: such as only performing Bluetooth Low Energy scans when you are close to a location that uses Bluetooth Beacons. However, as with all apps that use location, please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
